Scientific and Innovation Advisory Board

The Scientific and Innovation Advisory Board (SIAB) of the STRONGMAR project is expected to work in close cooperation with INESC TEC, in particular, with the main R&D centres involved in the STRONGMAR project, towards the improvement of the policies implemented at each research centre concerning the marine science and technology area.

The main mission of the SIAB is to assess the quality of project outputs and to make recommendations to the Project Management Team (PMT), in order to ensure that the project remains in line with its objectives and the work plan strategy, and that the expected positive impacts on research and innovation are reached and maximized.

The main responsibilities of the SIAB are:

  • to assess the quality of the project outputs and objectives;
  • to make recommendations for change of direction and/or focus, in order to ensure that the results are geared for maximum potential exploitation;
  • to provide regular scientific and innovation guidance;
  • to ensure a continuous stimulus for a better use of expertise/experiences among the initiating institutions and among networking partners;
  • to provide support and guidance regarding dissemination of knowledge and experience in a manner that provides maximum potential exploitation of the project.

The SIAB is composed by two representative members of the initiating institutions (INESC TEC and CINTAL), by one representative member of each networking partner (Heriot-Watt University, NATO STO, Universitat de Girona and University of Aberdeen), and by three members from INESC TEC’s Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).

The SIAB is led by the Chair and is co-chaired by the Project Coordinator, the latter without voting rights.
